Bernard J “B.J.” Tucker, 91, of Highland, California, formerly of Sioux City, died Thursday, December 27, 1999 in Highland following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Alex T. Washington officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Mr. Tucker was born October 8, 1908, in Akron, Iowa. He moved with his family in Sioux City as a child. He attended Sioux City Public Schools.

He married Etta I. Jones on November 9, 1935. He was employed with the Sioux City Tribune. He was then employed for several years with Hansen Glass and Paint Co., then Cook Paint and Siouxland Glass. Later, he was employed part time with Tucker Glass in South Sioux City and finally with Aalfs Manufacturing in Sioux City. The couple moved to Highland in 1994.

He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. He enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Bowling Hall of Fame.

Survivors include his wife, two sons, Dexter w. AND HIS WIFE, Margaret of Sioux City and Tom of Redland, California, a daughter and her husband, Mary and Gary “Auctioner” Jones of Sioux City, six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence.
