Joanne S. Weiner, 78, of Sioux City died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Sunday at Congregation Beth Shalom with her grandsons, Jonathan and Lee Goldfarb officiating. Private graveside services will be in Mt. Sinai Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Joanne was born May 27, 1926, in Sioux City, the daughter of Louis and Rose (Pill) Agranoff. She was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. She graduated from Central High School and attended the University of Iowa.

She married Bernard E. "Bud" Weiner on Dec. 28, 1947, in Sioux City. He died Jan. 7, 2002, in Sioux City.

She was a member of Mt. Sinai Temple and its sisterhood. She was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom and Hadassah.

She participated in fund-raising activities for various organizations and did volunteer work at the Soup Kitchen. Her greatest joys were her family, friends and her religion.

Survivors include two daughters, Marsha Goldfarb of Indianapolis, Ind., and Susan Unger and her husband, Michael, of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Michael and Jannien Weiner of Danville, Calif.; and seven grandchildren Jonathan, Lee and Sara Goldfarb, Seth and Jordan Unger and Louis and Rachael Weiner.

She also was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jean Rae Kalin-Hurwitz.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hadassah, St. Luke's Health Foundation or The Big Sioux Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
