Marion L. Hafits, 81, of Sioux City died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at her home after a brief illness.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. today at Mount Carmel Cemetery with Rabbi Bonnie Leavy officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Marion was born Aug. 10, 1923, in Sioux City, the daughter of Charles and Sophie (Levinson) Raskin.

She married Arthur Hafits on June 20, 1946, in Buffalo, N.Y. He died June 6, 1978, in Gary, Ind.

She lived her entire life in Sioux City except from 1970 to 1978 when the couple lived in Gary.

She was employed as a nursing home activity director for seven years while in Gary.

She was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom. Her interest was politics.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Debbie and Joel Ebstein of Carmel, Ind.; a son, Ron Hafits of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Jessie Russell and Sam Ebstein; a brother, Bill Raskin of Sioux City; and a sister and her husband, Ida and Sam Aronow of Culver City, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Carl Raskin; and two sisters, Ethel Spellman and Esther Primack.

Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.
