Athene "Teena" Katsis, 85, of Storm Lake, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in East Moline, Ill. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moline, Ill. Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. today, with a Trisagion (prayer) service at 4:30 p.m., at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd. in East Moline.

Teena was born Oct. 11, 1919, in East Moline, the daughter of Thomas and Helen (Tsirgotis) Katsis. After graduating from UTHS in 1936, she worked as an executive secretary for the former International Harvester Works in East Moline. During World War II, she worked for CBS in New York, N.Y.

She later moved to Sioux City, where she worked with family at the Broiler Restaurant and the Patio Inn Restaurant during the 1950s to 1960s. In the 1970s, she managed the Sioux City Airport Restaurant. She moved back to the Quad City area in 1997.

Aunt Teena was beloved by an extended family, always there in times of need for the many that she loved. Survivors include a sister, Ester Peponis of San Jose, Calif. and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; and three brothers.

Memorials may be made to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in East Moline, where she had been a member.
