JoEllen D. McCord, 40, of Pierce, formerly of Sioux City, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at Faith Regional Health Services, Norfolk, Neb.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Pierce. Private burial will be in Prospect View Cemetery, rural Pierce. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.stonacekfuneralchapel.com.

JoEllen was born on Dec. 24, 1976, in Sioux City, to William and Marcia (Willans) Decker. JoEllen graduated from Sioux City West High School. She was living in Sioux City and worked at Barnes and Noble for 10 years. On April 6, 2014, she moved to Pierce. JoEllen worked at Earl May Nursery in Norfolk, She enjoyed gardening, reading books, and helping people.

Survivors include her boyfriend, Pat Abbenhaus of Pierce; two sisters, Victoria Scott of Edenville, Wash., and Cynthia McNally of Denver, Colo.; one brother, William Decker Jr; one niece, Beth Horstkotte of New York; and three nephews, John (McKenna) Wear of Tacoma, Wash., Kendon Brawner of Lawrence, Kan., and Andrew Brawner of Lawrence.

She was preceded in death by parents, William and Marcia Decker; one sister, Meriel Brawner; and a brother-in-law, Russell Brawner.
