Nina L. Anderson, 84, longtime Sioux City and surrounding area resident, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, at an Omaha nursing home.

The body was cremated. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Jay Denne officiating.

Mrs. Anderson was born on July 10, 1933, in Yonkers, N.Y., to John and Madeline Donaldson. She attended the Fashion Institute of Technology and Design in New York City, receiving a degree in dress design. She later attended Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, graduating with a business major and minor in psychology.

She married Keith E. Anderson on April 2, 1955, in Carson City, Nev., and celebrated 47 years of marriage until his death in 2002.

Nina was an active member and volunteer with St. Thomas Episcopal Church. She also participated in many other volunteer activities throughout her lifetime including the Sioux City Community Schools, Boy Scouts of America, PTA Area Council, and PTA Neighborhood School. She was a 1997 Women of Excellence award winner for "Women Striving to Improve the Quality of Life."

She was an avid gardener, known for her green thumb, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing board games, cards, and working on jigsaw puzzles. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, teaching them how to sew and making arts and crafts.

Survivors include three sons, Bruce of Sioux City, Paul and his wife, Beth of Glenwood, Iowa, and John and his wife, Valerie of Shawnee, Kan.; a daughter, Jan Marie of Bellevue, Neb.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith; and her sister, Audrey.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be directed to St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
