Funeral services for Clarence R. Leonard, 77, 2037 S. Lemon Street, a former developer on the city’s East side, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home in Morningside. The Rev. Russell Olson of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Monahan Post 64, American Legion, will conduct military graveside rites. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Charles B. Randall Jr., T.W. Vollmer, Everett Waller, Joseph F. Christensen, Maurice E. Hallstrom and George Nanzer.

Mr. Leonard died Sunday at his home after a long illness.

Mr. Leonard was a charter member of Monahan Post 64, American Legion. He served two years in the heavy field artillery in World War I and was a member of the ground observer corps during World War II. He was a member of Sioux Valley Barracks 1019, Veterans of World War I.

Mr. Leonard, a Sioux City resident since 1919 was in the real estate business until 1923 and operated the Auto Salvage and Exchange Co. until 1955.

He was active in the East End Development Association. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a 50-year member of Columbia Lodge 19, Knights of Pythias and a long-time member of the Izaak Walton League.

Mr. Leonard was born April 9, 1892 in Silver Township, Cherokee County, Iowa. He married Lillian M. Rea August 5, 1922, at Elk Point.

Survivors include the widow and a daughter, Mrs. Werner C. (Dorothy) Hieb of Sioux City.
