Harriett Langdon, 87, formerly of Sioux City, died Sept. 5, 2017, in Louisville, Ky., after a brief illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Pearson Funeral Home, 149 Breckenridge Lane in Louisville. A private burial will be held in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Harriett was born Oct. 3, 1929, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Anna and Simeon Bikakis. Harriett was high school valedictorian. She was the first in her family to attend college, graduating from Morningside College. Harriett's parents were Greek immigrants who made a new life in the United States.

Harriett met her husband, Ralph, at the Sioux City Air Force base during the Korean War. They were married Nov. 13, 1955, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Sioux City.

Harriett worked as a substitute teacher for the Jefferson County School District while her children were young. In 1980, she began working as an administrative assistant and editor for the Department of Surgery at University of Louisville Medical School, until her retirement in 2001.

Harriett was a long-time member and past president of the Greater Louisville Celiac Society. Harriett and Ralph were members of a Love Circle group for over 20 years, where they have made many lifelong friendships. Her spirit lives on in the people she touched during her life, and she will be remembered with love by a wide circle of family and friends.

Harriett is survived by her devoted husband, Ralph Langdon; children, Dean Langdon (Beth Hellebusch), Greg Langdon, and LeeAnn Langdon (Patrick Baker); grandson, Zachary Langdon; and siblings Despina Ksidakis and Emmanuel Bikakis.
