Edward R. “Eddie” Vreugdenhil, 69, of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sunnybrook Community Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Online condolences may be directed to meyerbroschapels.com.

Edward was born the son of Edward and Marie (DenHartog) Vreugdenhil on Oct. 27, 1947, in Orange City, Iowa. His family moved to Sioux City before his high school years. He graduated from Central High School in 1966 and Sioux Empire College.

Edward honorably served his country in the United States Air Force and then the reserves, retiring from the 185th as a Master Sergeant. Eddie then worked for the Sioux City Public Schools for 10 years doing janitorial work.

Eddie enjoyed being active at Sunnybrook Community Church and square dancing.

Edward is survived by two sisters, Georgia Bonnewell of Sioux City and Marguerite (Ron) Huls of Wisconsin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Harvey.
