Eddie Florian Gesiriech, 63, of Sergeant Bluff, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, at his home.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff, 400 Fourth Street.

Eddie was born on July 20, 1954, in Atkinson, Neb., to Aleta M. Kehm and Edward W. Gesiriech. Eddie was a U.S. Marine Corps vet, who greatly loved his country and others. He was a proud, simple, and strong man. He greatly enjoyed the times he had with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Eddie loved walking around town to his favorite places and talking to anybody he came across.

Eddie is survived by his three daughters, Tori Jackson and son-in-law, Brad Jackson of Sergeant Bluff, Brandy Cook and son-in-law, Mike Cook of Sergeant Bluff, and Nena Gerdts of Fremont, Neb.; five grandchildren, Brandee and Kayla Anderson of Sioux City, Ebonnee and Malik Cook of Sergeant Bluff, and Zane Zastera of Fremont; two great-grandchildren, Amiiya Anderson and Aleigha Keoninh of Sioux City; brother, Ralph (Mickey) Kehm of Seward, Neb.; and three sisters, Cleo Boles of Gilmore City, Iowa, Leona Christian of Olate, Kan., and Deborah Hrenchir of Lincoln, Neb.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Aleta M. Kehm and Edward W. Gesiriech; and his two brothers, Edward W. Gesiriech Jr., and Jake Kehm.

Should friends or family desire, memorials may be sent to 4601 S. Ridge Road, Sioux City, IA. We also ask that you take a moment to hug your child, grandchild, friend, or just take a walk for a moment, an hour, or a day. Time waits for no one. Rest easy dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa.
