LaDene L. Hickey, 75, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Dakota City, died on Aug. 16, 2017, at Honor Health John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave., in Sioux City, with the Rev. Jay Denne officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.

LaDene Lois (Namanny) Hickey, the daughter of William Leonard and Lena Olga (Plagge) Namanny, was born on Aug. 6, 1942 in Denison, Iowa. She was raised on a farm and educated in Denison. LaDene enjoyed being a farm girl and helping with the daily chores.

On Oct. 4, 1969, in Sioux City, LaDene was united in marriage to Rene Hickey who was from South Sioux City. Through her working years, LaDene worked at Hinky Dinky and K&B Transportation as an insurance clerk and receptionist until retiring in 2015. She had lived in Sioux City, South Sioux City and Dakota City. Currently, she was living in Phoenix with her daughter, Rhonda. LaDene was blessed to live in their guest house and only needed to pass thru the wash room to see her family.

LaDene enjoyed gardening, fishing and was an avid Nebraska Corn Husker fan.

LaDene is survived by one daughter, Rhonda Kay Weis Kauspedas and husband, Bruce of Phoenix; four grandchildren, Jessica, Nathanael, Karisa and Christopher, all of Phoenix; three sisters, Marcella Petersen and husband, Melvin of Schleswig, Iowa, Donna Mae Weed of Norfolk, Neb., and Shirley Ahart of Denison; one brother, William Namanny and wife, Audrey of Carroll, Iowa; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rene F. Hickey on Feb. 16, 2000; and three brothers, Leonard, Wilbert and Kenneth Namanny.
