Decatur, Neb.

Jana Louise Worley of Decatur, passed away on Aug. 20, 2017, at Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City, with her husband, Putsy, and her son, Jim, at her side.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Decatur. Burial will be at a later date in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at Pelan Funeral Services in Tekamah, Neb.

Jana was born on Dec. 25, 1929, to Robert and Beulah (Y’Deen) Hughes, in rural Decatur. She was the oldest of five girls, with sisters, Roberta, Madeline, Betty and Ilene. She grew up in the northern part of Decatur and attended Decatur Public School, where she graduated in 1947. Jana helped raise her sisters, assisted her mom in running a cream station and eventually worked for many years at Citizens State Bank in Decatur. She was known for her ability with numbers and her exceptional penmanship.

Jana met Boyd "Putsy" Worley while they were in high school and they married on Sept. 14, 1948. Jana and Putsy operated a farm North of Decatur. They had three sons, Bob, Jim and Jerry. Jana and Putsy taught their sons how to treat others and the value of work. There were some poor crop years at the farm, but they always made ends meet because of their willingness to work and sacrifice. They enjoyed participating in their sons lives and loved attending their school and sports events.

Jana was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church and president and treasurer of Lutheran Ladies Aid. She was president of VFW Women's Auxiliary and served on the Decatur Schools Board of Education. Jana was a good citizen and was always willing to help and lead, if necessary.

Jana especially loved Christmas, not because it was her birthday, but because of the special feeling of giving and the love and fellowship that followed the season. Jana loved giving gifts, but also loved receiving them. She especially loved the jewelry she received from her sons, grandchildren and later, her great-grandchildren. She always received a midnight phone call from her dear friend, Jerri Piere, being the first one to wish her a Happy Birthday.

She is survived by her husband, Boyd; sons, Bob Worley of Elkhorn, Neb., and Jim (Diane) Worley of Sioux City; grandchildren, Kerry Worley of Elkhorn, Kristi (Bryce) Lander of Moville, Iowa, and Rachel (Casey) Vande Kop of Sergeant Bluff; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Taylor and Luke Lander, and Mason and Nolan Vande Kop; stepgranddaughters, Sarah LeMoine of Sioux City, and Amber (Joe) Agrimson of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; great-stepgrandchildren, Paisley, Sage, Nora and Briella Agrimson, Kianna and Brayden Hudspeth; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Roberta; and son, Jerry.

Jana's family would like to say a special thank you to the Hospice of Siouxland for their care and support, and to the care giving team at Sunrise Retirement Community.

Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
