Edward J. Beazley, 90, of Correctionville, passed away Saturday morning, July 29, 2017, at Correctionville Specialty Care.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church in Correctionville. The Rev. John Riebhoff will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset View Cemetery, Washta, Iowa, with military rites. There will be a family prayer service at 10:45 a.m. Friday at the church. Visitation will be 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 5 to 7 p.m., at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Ed was born on June 9, 1927, near Washta, to Jack and Edwina (Flisher) Beazley. He attended Washta schools. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy on the USS Miami CL 89.

Ed was married to Lila Backhaus on Dec. 3, 1947, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Quimby, Iowa. He farmed all his life, retiring in 1997.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Correctionville, where he had been Sunday School superintendent for many years. He was also a member of the Washta American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, playing cards, animals on the farm until they got outside the fences, watching the Minnesota Twins, and spending time with family and friends. Ed had been a resident of Correctionville the past four years and prior to this lived on a farm north of Correctionville.

He is survived by his wife, Lila; four children, Jerry Beazley of Cherokee, Patrick (Rose) Beazley of Cherokee, Bill Beazley of Correctionville, and Karen (Bill) Gold of Moville, Iowa; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Nicole (Allen) Campbell and their children, Hannah and Mason, Brandon Beazley and his son, Ashton and stepdaughter, Destiny Ohrtman, Charissa (Jason) Overmohle and their children, Dylan, Evan and Elise, Trent (Savanna) Beazley, Jasmine Gold and Chris Gold.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul and Donald Beazley; three sisters, Goldie Butcher, Donna Joseph and Julie Beazley; and a daughter-in-law, Pamela Beazley.
