ELIAS HERMAN STRATTON

Elias Herman Stratton, son of Lyman and Gertrude Stratton was born January 17, 1891 at Smithland, la. He was the oldest child in a family of 5 children. He was a lifelong resident of Woodbury county, having farmed In the Smithland and Oto communities. He was married to Edna Beaver November 8, 1911 at Onawa, la. This union was blessed with 8 children.

Ellis died Saturday. March 30, 1957 at a Sioux City hospital, following a heart attack, suffered at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ariel Uhl, at Mapleton. H had reached the age of 66 years, 3 months and 13 days.

Survivors Include the widow, Edna; 4 sons, Marvin of Clear Lake, S. D., Ivan of Osceola, Neb., Cecil and Kenneth both of Oto; 3 daughters, Mrs. Ariel (Muriel) Uhl, Mapleton, Mrs. Lloyd (Lorona) Miller, Osceola Neb, and Mrs. Maurice (Maureta) Regennlter, Washta, la.: 23 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren: 3 sisters. Mrs. Olive Burgess, Onawa, Mrs. Goldie DeForest and Mrs. Carrie Jackson, both of Eugene, Ore.

Mr. Stratton was preceded in death by a twin son, his parents and 1 brother

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 2, 1957 at the Methodist church at Smithland. Rev John Rogers officiated. Pallbearers were Charles (Ike) Livermore, Mervin Jackson. Aldre Scheer, Joseph Dickman, Phillip Oregon and Ellis Oregon. Burial was in the Smithland cemetery under the direction of the Byers-Walter funeral home.

Soloists were Mr. and Mrs. John Willmott. Organist and Maxine Mead
