Leonard G. Christensen, 60, of Sioux City died Monday, January 24, 2000 at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Riverside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. John W. Meyer of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. at Christy- Smith Berkemier Chapel.

Mr. Christensen was born September 6, 1939, in Sioux City, the son of Leonard Christian Christensen and Marie Lillian (LaFleur) Christensen Howard. He attended Sioux City schools and served in the U.S. Air Force.

He married Betty L.C. Tubbs on November 21, 1962, in Sioux City. She died September 19, 1996 in Sioux City. He was employed as a mechanic in Sioux City.

He was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed sports, fishing and gardening.

Survivors include seven daughters, Susan and her husband, Bill Furray of Sillimanville, Conn., Aletha Myers, Toni and her husband, Larry Olson, Pamela Christensen and her fiancé, Roman Aguirre, Carla Christensen and Amy and her husband, Randy Flesner, all of Sioux City and Cheryl and her husband, Gary Jarvis of Manteca, California; four sons, Gerald Reed, Timothy Peterson and Larry Dwyer and his wife, Diane, all of Sioux City and James Reed of Jefferson, South Dakota; a brother and his wife, Marty and Jeanine of Missouri; two sisters, Edith and her husband, Reggie Ludwig and Karen Zeisk, all of Texas, 27 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Virgil Reed Jr. and a grandson, Jason Reed.

Pallbearers will be Tom Lillie, Mike Case, Buzz Schmidt, Dick Winters, Kenny Potts and John Johnson.
