Martin was born on Aug. 5, 1934, in West Point, Neb., the son of VanBuren and Amelia (Novak) McGuire. Martin attended school in Pender, Neb.

He married Darlene Butler on April 18, 1964, in Pipestone, Minn. Martin was a farmer for most of his life, but also did construction, mostly in the Siouxland area, before retiring in 1992.

Martin enjoyed collecting clocks, tractors, and belt buckles. Family was the most important aspect of his life. Where ever you would see Martin, his wife was close by, they were very close. His grandson, Travis, was very close to him, and would cut his hair whenever needed.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Darlene; children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; sisters, Mavis (Donald) Berg of Pender, and Lois, of California; and a brother, Bill McGuire of Omaha.

Martin was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Alvin McGuire.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Martin's wife, Darlene.
