Bill Shreve, 88, of Salix, Iowa, died Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Pioneer Valley Living and Rehab in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at the church with a scriptural prayer service at 7:00 P.M. A funeral mass will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, May 25, 2017, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Salix, with Father Michael Erpelding, Celebrant, officiating.

Burial will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 27, 2017, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Cemetery in Salix. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

William Henry Shreve was born on May 13, 1929, in Del Norte, Colorado, the son of James Alonzo "Lon" and Myrtle (Fuller) Shreve. He grew up there, and graduated from Del Norte High School in 1948.

Bill married Bonnie Moreau on September 22, 1956, in Onawa, Iowa, and the couple made their home in Salix.

He managed McCreary Lumber and Hardware in Salix for many years, and then worked as a custodian for the Westwood Schools from 1976 – 1994.

Bill enjoyed taking care of his yard, fixing lawn mowers, reading, and woodworking. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Salix.

Survivors include eight children, Dennis Shreve of Juarez, Mexico, Roxanne Shreve of Fowler, CO, Nancy (Daniel Garson) Tafoya of Junction City, KS, Janet (James "Tony") Yanak of Salix, IA, Bill (Carla) Shreve of Salix, IA, Daphne (Duane) Folsom of Oto, IA, Anita (Bobby) Comstock of Salix, IA, and Hope Shreve of Sioux City, IA; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Hazel Cooper of San Manuel, AZ; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lon and Myrtle Shreve; his wife, Bonnie Shreve in 1989; and four siblings, Nellie Sutton, Nola Kinsey, Ernest Shreve, and David Shreve.
