Donald Andrew Waldron, 88, of Lincoln, Neb., formerly of Sioux City, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, in Lincoln.

Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. today in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Waldron was born Nov. 4, 1916, in Sioux City, to Seward and Helen (O'Neill) Waldron. He graduated from East High School and attended the University of Iowa.

He married Mary Ellen Snow on June 1, 1940, in Sioux City. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, stationed in the Pacific Theater as a navigator with the Photo Reconnaissance Group. He served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves in Sioux City with the 185th TAC Fighter Squadron. In 1968, he became activated during the Vietnam Conflict and was stationed in Altus Air Force Base in Oklahoma. He remained in military service and was stationed at Westover AFB, Mass., and Langley AFB, Va. He retired after 30 years of service in 1977, achieving the rank of lieutenant colonel. He then worked as a salesman for Palmer Fruit Company in Sioux City.

While in Sioux City, he was a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of the Abu Bekr Shrine, where he was a past president of the clown unit, and attended Mayflower Congregation Church.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Mike and Susan Waldron of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Patti and Chris Carper of Lincoln, Neb.; grandchildren and spouses, Courtney and Mike Hoffman of Fairfax, Iowa, Michael and Michelle Waldron of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Casey Carper of Lincoln, Neb.; great-grandchildren, Brennan, Brady, Addy, Eli, Annah, Sam and another one on the way; a sister, Cathleen (Waldron) Burke of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; a brother-in-law, Herb Lilijegren of Riverside, Calif.; and nieces, nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen (Snow) Waldron; and a sister, Barbara Jean (Waldron) Lilijegren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Shrine Hospitals for Children, Sesostris Shrine Center Building Fund and other charities designated by the family in care of Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln, NE. 68512.
