Paula Padilla, 70, of Sioux City died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, at her daughter's residence in Huron, S.D.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Cathedral of the Epiphany Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Paul Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Paula was born Jan. 15, 1935, to Felix and Matilda (De La Cruz) Herrera, in Maxwell, Texas. She married Jose Padilla on Dec. 9, 1957, in Loveland, Texas. She was a native Texan until moving to Siouxland in 1990 to be closer to her children.

She was a very loving mother and grandmother. One of the many things she loved to do for her family was to cook her authentic meals. She also enjoyed sewing and gardening. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Epiphany, where she was a Eucharist minister both here in Sioux City and in Amarillo, Texas.

She is survived by two sons, Jesus and Erin Padilla of Sioux City and Jose Padilla of Huron, S.D.; three daughters, Belia Padilla of Sioux City, Lupita and her husband, William Medrano of Omaha and Yolanda and her husband, Hector Beltran of Huron, S.D.; and three grandchildren, Christopher J. Stauder, Mariah Nicole Padilla and Melia Jean Padilla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Jose Jesus Padilla on June 13, 1977.
