Carl A.R. Haaseth, 86, of Sioux City died Sunday, December 1, 1996 in Sioux City.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, with the Rev. Susan Miller, Hospice Chaplin officiating. The body will be cremated following the service and the ashes buried in Marysville, Wash. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Haaseth was born March 16, 1910 in Day County, S.D., the son of Rassmus and Anna (Olson) Haaseth. He was a long time resident of Everett Wash., where he was a postal worker with the U.S. Post Office. He married Anna Biri, who is now deceased. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He had been a resident of Sioux City for a short time.

Mr. Haaseth was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2100 in Everett, the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald of Ann Arbor, Mich. and David of Mountlake Terrance, Wash. and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ole and Nels Olson and Sievert and Rubin Haaseth a sister, Gertrude Tchita and two nephews.
