Vern William Rehder, 88, of Fairfield, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died Wednesday, December 4, 1996, in Fairfield.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sac City, Iowa with the Rev. Rick Suggitt officiating. Burial will be in Wall Lake Cemetery in Wall Lake, Iowa. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at the Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City.

Mr. Rehder was born November 26, 1908, near Wall Lake, the son of William Rehder and Anna (Vogel) Rehder-Albrecht. He was baptized January 1, 1909 and confirmed in 1923, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake. He farmed and was an automotive electrician in Sac City. He married Fern F. Hansen on September 7, 1933 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sac City. The couple lived and farmed in Sac County until 1940, when they moved to Milwaukee, Wis. For two years. They returned to Iowa and resided in Sac City until 1956, when they moved to Sioux City.

Mr. Rehder was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairfield.

Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Bonnie and Roland Peaslee of Fairfield, Phyllis and Nicholas DeMenna of Arroyo Grande, California and Joanne and Larry Harmon of Sitka, Alaska; three sons and their wives, William and Vina of Paccagoula, Miss., Larry and Myris of Destrahan, La., and Paul and Janene of Raleigh, N.C. a sister, Leona Spurling of Lake View, Iowa; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; two brothers, Alfred and Edward; a half-brother, Raymond Albrecht; three step-brothers, Edward J., William and Clifford Albrecht; and a step-sister, Lola Albrecht.
