Sergeant Bluff – Rex A. Brower, 71, of Sergeant Bluff died Tuesday, October 22, 1996 at a Sioux City hospital after being stricken at his residence.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Morningside Lutheran Church with the Rev. Marvin Mueller officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel. The Rev. Jon Gerdis will officiate.

Mr. Brower was born October 24, 1924, in Red Oak, the son of Andrew and Louisa (Valentine) Brower. He attended Red Oak schools and graduated from Red Oak High School. He also attended junior college.

He married Dorothy Veak in December 1944 in Red Oak. They lived in Carroll, Iowa from 1957 to 1968, when they moved to South Sioux City. She died in June 1973. He married Yvonne Glover November 16, 1973 in Las Vegas, Nev. They made their home in South Sioux City and moved to Sergeant Bluff in 1977. He was employed as a salesman for Farner-Bocken Co. for 48 years, retiring in 1993.

Mr. Brower was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church, the Sioux City Noon Lions Club and the Sergeant Bluff American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, four sons and their wives, Dennis and Patricia of Carroll, Larry and Rose of Aurora, Colo., Bill and Angie of Sioux City and Bob and Molly of Sergeant Bluff; a daughter, DiAnn Salsness of Prior Lake, Minn.; a sister Helen Stieben of Portland, Ore.; a step-son, Jeff Glover and his wife, Debby of Sioux City; a step-daughter, Pam Hovde of Sioux City; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Denise McBride; a brother, Lloyd and two sisters, Maxine and Wilma.
