SIOUX CITY | Douglas Brian Laedtke, 53, of Brooklyn Park, Minn., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Memorial services will be held in the Minneapolis area.

Douglas was born on Nov. 26, 1963, at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., the son of Gerald J. and Frances K. "Fran" (Kimmel) Laedtke. He was raised in Texas before moving to Sioux City. He graduated from North High School and then attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, graduating with a double major in English and Asian studies. While attending the University of Nebraska, he spent a year as an exchange student in Nagoya, Japan. Following his graduation, he moved to San Francisco and employed as an editor with a computer magazine.

He married Patricia Simons while living in San Francisco. They later moved to St. Paul, Minn., where their only son was born, Ian Douglas. He later married Keria Thrasher and they had one daughter, Erin Frances. He worked in Minneapolis for 15 years with Wells Fargo.

He is survived by his wife, Keria; his children, Ian and Erin; his parents, Gerald and Fran Laedtke of Sioux City; a brother, Steve Laedtke of Houston, Texas; an uncle, Judge Edward R. (Jeanne) Kimmel, Ret. of Florida; an aunt, Geraldine Roman of Springfield, Va.; and eight cousins.
