SIOUX CITY | Donald Joseph Ward (affectionately known as "Dodo"), 95, of Athens, Ga., formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2017.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 134 Prince Avenue, in Athens. Interment with full military rites will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Bernstein Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Athens.

Born in Sioux City, Lt. Colonel Ward (ret.) was a 28-year veteran as a pilot in the USAF and served during World War II. He was a 1940 mid-year graduate of Central High/Castle on the Hill.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Shirley; son, Michael Ward (Donna) of Athens; daughters, Suzanne Gatliff (Bob) of Watkinsville, Ga., Constance Ward of Athens, and Gail Kohler (Wayne) of Eatonton, Ga.; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Ward of Lynnville, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Donald P. Ward.
