James M. "Jim" Eaton 1929 - 2017

SIOUX CITY | James M. "Jim" Eaton, 87, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017, at his residence.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Jim was born on Aug. 27, 1929, in Sioux City, son of Ray and Elvina (Krumrei) Eaton. Jim married Darlene Johnson on Feb. 22, 1951. She passed away in May 2016.

He enlisted in the United States Marines on March 28, 1947, serving three years. He was honorably discharged on March 27, 1950. Jim worked as a truck driver at various places in Siouxland, retiring when he was 65.

Jim enjoyed going fishing, and he took pride in his yard. He was often seen outside doing yard work or cutting wood. He had a strong love for many of the dogs he had throughout his life, most importantly his current dog companion, Chewy. Jim loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his sons, Jim K. Eaton of Sioux City, Mike (Vicki) Eaton of Washington, Steve (Julie) Eaton of Sioux City, Ron (Lynne) Eaton of Sioux City, Tim Eaton of Renner, S.D., and Rob (Deb) Eaton of Arizona; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy, Heather, Hollie, Lisa, Sara, Stevie, Angie, Ron, Ashley and Mandi; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Lavona Klunker of Minnesota.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Darlene; and brothers, Lyle and Bud.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of Siouxland for the excellent care they gave to Jim.
