SIOUX CITY | Betty Jean Baker Wieck, 82, of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017, at a local nursing facility.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Henry Witte officiating. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service. Abiding by family wishes, cremation will follow.

Betty was born on Dec. 19, 1934, in Sioux City, to Walter and Anna (Fuller) Porter. She graduated from Holly Springs (Iowa) High School before her marriage to Elden Baker on May 23, 1953, in Missouri. To this union, five children were born, Beverly, Elden Jr., Ronda, Jeff and Elton.

Betty was a bartender, working at the Southwood Lounge and at the Eagles Club, where she was also a member. She and Elden divorced, and she married Raymond Wieck on Dec. 19, 1986, in Sioux City.

She attended Concordia Lutheran Church. She loved to dance. Betty was a loving grandmother. She had the place for neighborhood kids to stop by and was called Grammy by all the local kids.

Betty is survived by her son, Elton Baker and his fianceé, Theresa Ericson of Sioux City; and grandchildren, Addam James Baker and Taylor Ray Baker.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband, Elden in 2008; husband, Ray in 2003; daughters, Beverly and Ronda; and sons, Elden Jr. and Jeff Baker.
