23 January 2017SIOUX CITY | Evelyn B. Parks, 90, of Sioux City, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Evelyn Parks, daughter of Charles E. and Clara (Barkl) Hlavac, was born and raised on a farm near Utica, S.D. She graduated from high school in Lesterville, S.D.
She married Dennis R. Parks in 1971 in Sioux City. Evelyn provided child care for several local physicians and Mary Alice and Jack Hoberg. She then was the director of housekeeping at Casa de Paz.
Evelyn was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include a stepson, Lee (Ginger) Parks of Newberg, Ore., a stepdaughter, Becky (Gary) Homesley of Edmond, Okla., and their families; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; sisters, Rose Fejfar, Helen Buechler, Elsie Van Driel and Tillie Lane; and brothers, William, Alfred and Benjamin Hlavac.
