SIOUX CITY | Richard J. Bruce, 50, of Sioux City, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, at his residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Ralph Shorey officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a celebration of life service at 7 p.m., at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Rich was born and raised in Sioux City, to Harold and Angela (Max) Bruce. He married Wendy Tompkins-Mace on Feb. 24, 2012.

Rich worked at Wilson Trailer for 20 years, along with Family Practice for 23 years. In May of 2015, he started a new career with Tyson Foods as a night supervisor.

Rich was a huge Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He also loved taking walks with his wife, his dogs, Sammy and Spencer, and doing yard work. Rich also enjoyed serving at his church by mowing the lawn. He was also very generous.

Survivors include his wife, Wendy Bruce of Sioux City; mother, Angela Bruce of Sioux City; siblings, Dan (Rhonda) Bruce of Norwalk, Iowa, Cathy (Don) Mitchell of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Kajsa (Mark) Wingert of Ames, Iowa. Rich was also the proud uncle of Matt Kelsey, Kayley and Emily Bruce, Zach, Nick, and Brandi Mitchell, and Allee and Annee Wingert.

Rich was preceded in death by his father, Harold; his sister, Karen; and grandparents, Manfred and Christine Max and Harold and Mary Bruce.
