SIOUX CITY | Richard A. Pedersen, 58, of Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, at a local hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation will be 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Richard was born on Oct. 23, 1958, in Abington, Pa., to Bernie and Norma (Abromo) Pedersen. He was united in marriage to Mary Ferguson on Aug. 24, 1987 in Sioux City. When he was younger, he worked on a merchant seaman ship for several years. He later worked various construction jobs around Sioux City.

Rick enjoyed playing guitar hero, watching movies, listening to music, entertaining friends and family, fixing things around the house and spending time with his grandson, Jace. He especially loved his faithful companion, his dog, Astro.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Mary Pedersen of Sioux City; daughter, Vanessa Pedersen (John Schonrock) of Sioux City; grandson, Jace Tague-Pedersen; father, Bernie Pedersen of Sioux City; brother, Michael Pedersen of Sioux City; and sister, Lori Bass of Sioux City.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Norma; grandparents; and father-in-law, Charles Ferguson.

Memorials may be made to the family.
