SIOUX CITY | Jeanne A. Scott, 92, of Sioux City, formerly of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully on Jan. 30, 2017, at Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City.

Services will be held in Minneapolis. Local arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Jeanne was born in Chicago, Ill., on April 26, 1924, to George and Alice Shervington. Jeanne lived a full and fruitful life. She finished high school in New York City. After two years of college at Bethany College (Bethany, W.V.), she trained to become a nurse in the Cadet Nursing Program through Columbia University's Presbyterian School of Nursing.

She met and married William Scott, a student at Columbia University Medical School. Soon afterwards, Dr. Scott served his country as a surgeon in the Korean Conflict. In the mid 1950s, they followed their heartfelt call to serve their Lord as medical missionaries to India. Their lives have been a wonderful example and inspiration to all who knew them. Jeanne moved to Sioux City in June 2016.

She is survived by four children, Sue (Ron) Swanson, Bill Jr. (Susan) Scott, Ann (Dennis) Abbott, and Richard (Debbie) Scott; nine grandchildren; nine (soon to be 11) great-grandchildren; a first cousin, Anne Gray of Newcastle, England; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Billy and Tom.

The family has been so grateful for the kind and compassionate care given to her in these past few months. Therefore, they request that any memorials given in her memory be given to Hospice of Siouxland, 4300 Hamilton Blvd., Sioux City, IA 51104, and Sunrise Retirement Community/Bernstein Neighborhood, 5501 Gordon Dr., Sioux City, IA 51106.
