Hilda Marie Cyphers, 102, of Rio Rancho, N.M., formerly of Sioux City, died Saturday, March 28, 1998, at her residence.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Riverside United Methodist Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Berkemier Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cyphers was born March 12, 1896, in Nowata, Okla., the daughter of George and Inde (Johnson) Crawford. She moved to eastern Iowa with her family as a child.

She married Mike Cyphers on March 20, 1916. The couple made their home in Sioux City. They moved to Ponca, Nebraska in 1924, where they farmed. They returned to Sioux City in 1961, and farmed near Stone Park. He died in 1962. She moved with her daughter to Rio Rancho in 1990.

She was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church when living in Sioux City.

Survivors include three daughters, Leola James of Sioux City, Mary Barnes of St. James, Mo., and Patricia Cyphers of Rio Rancho; three sons, Daren of Fuita, Colo., Jack and his wife, Ev of Muckatine, Iowa and Lyle and his wife, Carol, of East Moline, Illinois; 42 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren; 41 great-great-grandchildren and five great-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Earl and Larry, and a daughter Betty Riffey.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Ball, Ted Ball Jr., Jeramy Ericsson, Marty Rasmussen, Derek Smith and Les Wilson.
