Mabel Madge Long, 79, of Sioux City, a resident of Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 3, 2006.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morningside Lutheran Church, with Pastor Kevin Lee officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

She was born Mabel M. Watson on Nov. 7, 1926, to Ollie (Butler) and Charles Watson. She grew up in Horton, Kan., moved to Emporia, Kan. and married Emmett Long. He passed away in 1980.

She moved to Sioux City in 1988 to be with family. She worked in the medical field all her working life.

She attended Morningside Lutheran Church. She loved and had a strong faith in the Lord. Her beautiful smile and loving heart will be greatly missed.

Survivors include a brother, William C. Watson of Horton, Kan.; a sister and her husband, Gertrude and Duane Hayes of Falls City, Neb.; four nieces, Linda and her husband, John Urick of Sioux City, Eleanor and her husband, Corry Pitts of Blue Springs, Mo., Karen and her husband, Kelly Jacobs of Sioux City, Nancy and her husband, David Hill of Elk Point, S.D. and Penny Butler of Pittsburg, Kan.; as well as many great nieces and nephews and long-time friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Charles; her husband, Emmett Long; a sister, Margaret D. Huffman; two brothers-in-law, James L. Huffman and Carl Ward; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Watson.
