Melanie Sue "Birdie" Rouillard, 32, of Niobrara, Neb., formerly of Sioux City, died unexpectedly Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, in Sioux City from natural causes.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Indian Mission in Sioux City, with the Rev. F. David Titus officiating. Burial will be in Holy Faith Cemetery, Lindy, Neb. Visitation will begin today, with a wake service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Melanie was born Nov. 14, 1972, to Richard and Alice (Red Owl) Medina. She had lived most of her life in Sioux City.

Survivors include four children, Michael Melda of Chamberlain, S.D., Mariah Medina of Sioux City, Alyssa Rouillard and her twin, Anabel Rouillard of Santee, Neb.; her mother, Alice Rouillard of Santee, Neb.; her grandmother, Ada Red Owl of Sioux City; eight siblings, Rhonda Rouillard, Dawn Rouillard and Michelle Rouillard, all of Sioux City, Stephanie Nelson of Santee, Monica and her husband, Carlos Lopez of Norfolk, Neb., Adam Rouillard of Sioux City, LeAnne Rouillard of Santee and Lydia Rouillard of Sioux City; several half sisters and two half brothers; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Medina; a brother, Micah Rouillard; and a sister, Sheila Rouillard.

Pallbearers will be Jonas and Tavis Rouillard, Gary Nelson Jr., Anthony and Jonathan Red Owl and Gary Red Owl Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Starr, Shawn Denney, Carols Lopez, Richard Red Owl, Keanan Rouillard, Eddie Sandoval, Quentin Trudell and Adam Rouillard.
