Clifford Donald Allen, 80, of Sioux City died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Merrill Muller of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Clifford was born July 7, 1925, in Akron, Iowa, the son of George Edgar and Maude Ellen (Peck) Allen. He was raised and lived in the Akron area until 1942, when he moved to Sioux City, where he had resided since.

He was united in marriage to Donna Meadows on Oct. 1, 1946, in South Sioux City. He was employed as a millwright for 22 years with Terminal Grain and 13 years with Cargill.

He was of the Methodist faith. He enjoyed working on stock cars with his grandson, fixing his great-grandchildren's bikes, helping family and friends and coffee at Johnny Mar's with the guys.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Dorene (Meadows) Allen of Sioux City; two daughters, Patricia Murray and Nancy Beamon; seven grandchildren and spouses, Teresa and Jim Simeon of Wayne, Neb., C.J. and Sue Murray of Sioux City, Chad and Jennifer Murray of Sioux City; Ernest Beamon and Johnnie Manely of Rocky Mount, N.C., Angela and Chad Morgan of Sioux City, Cindy and Craig Verbeski of Sioux City and Anthony Beamon of Sioux City; great-grandchildren, Charlee and her husband, Scott Grover, Jessica McKnight, Christopher McKnight, Joshua McKnight, Katie Daniels, Jimmy Ray Simeon, Juston Simeon, Carrisa Murray, Calin Murray, Devon Michael Beamon, Makenna Murray and Alyssah Murray; great-great-grandchildren, Connor Grover and Ian Grover; and sisters, Rose Carter of Akron, Iowa, Marie Manoiki of Chicago, Ill., Dorothy Kemp of Lincoln, Neb., and Leone Dixon of Moville, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; two sisters; two brothers; and a son-in-law.
