Gloria L. Bresnahan, 71, of Sioux City died Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gary B. Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mrs. Bresnahan was born May 18, 1934, in Sioux City, the daughter of Delbert and Lois (Fitz) Schroder. She grew up in Ida Grove, Iowa, graduating from Ida Grove High School.

She married Richard L. Bresnahan on Oct. 2, 1954, in Ida Grove. She had lived in Sioux City since 1956. She was a housemother at St. Vincent's School of Nursing and continued on with her career at St. Vincent's Hospital and Mercy Medical Center for 35 years, retiring in 1993.

She was known for her vibrant personality and adventurous spirit. She enjoyed family vacations, camping with her grandchildren, playing "spoons" and cards with relatives and Las Vegas excursions. First and foremost to her was her family and the great love they shared. She will be forever missed by those lives she touched. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Richard of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Scott and Gaylin Bresnahan of Sioux City; two daughters, Julie and her husband, Gary Miller of Remsen, Iowa, and Karen Bresnahan of Denver, Colo.; a brother and his wife, Stanley and Vivian Schroder of Lacon, Ill.; and seven grandchildren Angela, Richard and Jessica Bresnahan and Sharon, Emily, Blake and Jordan Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Allen Schroder.
