Lorraine May Cook, of Millbrae, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Nov. 30, 2007, in Millbrae.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Duggan's Serra Mortuary in Daly City, Calif.

Lorraine May Cook was a graduated from Sioux City's Central High School with the class of 1949. She was a longtime resident of San Francisco.

Members of her extended group of relatives, friends, former classmates and colleagues were well aware of her qualities and talents. Going beyond great generosity, there was that comic wit. Her rapid unexpected response with a question to answer a question would "set you back on your heels", surprised and laughing. She will be greatly missed by all.

She leaves behind a son, Robert Sackett; a daughter, Barbara Balsham; a son-in-law, James Balsham; granddaughters, Casey and Jessica Balsham, all of San Francisco; a daughter, Julie Sackett of San Diego, Calif.; sisters, Donna McGuire of Las Vegas, Nev., and Marlene Rasmussen of Banning, Calif.; her grandsons, Samuel Sackett of Birmingham, Ala., and Brian Sackett of New Orleans, La.; nieces and nephews include six of the McGuire and three of the Rasmussen families.
