Barbara Gordon, 73, of Sioux City died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Wesley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. The body was cremated. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Mrs. Gordon was born Oct. 16, 1934, in Sioux City, the daughter of Carl and Isabella (Nelson) Peterson. She attended East High School.

She married Ronald A. Gordon on Oct. 25, 1952, in Sioux City. He preceded her in death on July 25, 2001, in Sioux City. Besides being a homemaker, she also worked at Laurence's as a checker. She also owned and operated her own antique shop called Ye Old Treasure Shop in Leeds. She also cleaned offices at the Francis Building.

She loved to go to rummage sales, auctions and selling on eBay. She had booths at many flea markets in town. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids, and looking forward to having breakfast and coffee on Sundays with her kids.

Survivors include a son, Ronald "Corky" Gordon of Sioux City; two daughters, Rhonda (Joseph) Sessoms of Hinton, Iowa, and Renee Young of Sioux City; a brother, Vernon Peterson of Sioux City; two sisters, Joyce (Tom) Cox of Spokane, Wash., and Delores Anderson of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Nate Sessoms, Ryan (Alena) Weber, Christina (Chad) Patrick, Chad Young, Liz (Jon) Deck and Kate (Bryan) McGeeney; and two great-grandchildren, Jayda and Cayson Patrick.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three brothers, Paul, Bob and Bill Peterson.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
