Gone with Jesus. Dr. Glee Roy Lockwood, 89, formerly of Sioux City entered heaven Dec. 12, 2007.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Morningside Bible Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com.

Dr. Lockwood was born in Allen, Neb. on Sept. 21, 1918. He attended Allen High School, Morningside College and received an earned doctorate degree.

He was the pastor of the former Billy Sunday Tabernacle in Sioux City for 15 years. It was during this time that Morningside Christian School was established and still educates young people for his service. After resigning as pastor and founder of the school, he joined World Literature Crusade which printed Bible literature in 100 languages in 100 countries. He served as vice president of the television and radio production, mobilizing more than 15 million dollars for overseas ministry.

He was a member of the Royal Geographic Society of London, England and served on the advisory boards of Global Focus, Atlanta, Ga., and New Tribes Mission of Florida, both world wide missionary organizations. He was a known speaker and author.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Fern Pope Lockwood of Acworth, Ga.; four children, Connie Campbell of Sioux City, Sharon Reesor of Acworth, Ga., Sandy Monson of Greenville, S.C., and Marcia Bean of Chicago; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Lockwood who passed away in 2004.
