Marguerite Madsen, 85, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Sioux City, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, in St. Petersburg.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Valerie Heller of Grace United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, prior to services, at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Marguerite was born Aug. 5, 1922, in Osceola, Mo., the daughter of Albert and Yvonne (Heberer) Houk. She was raised in Missouri before moving to Iowa, where she met her future husband.

She was married on Sept. 22, 1943, to Robert Madsen in Storm Lake, Iowa. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1944. She had lived here until moving to St. Petersburg in 1987, to be closer to family members. Robert died in Sioux City in May 1985.

Marguerite had taught school for three years until she started raising a family at which time she stayed at home as a homemaker and seamstress. She was a Boy Scout leader, member of a quilting club and enjoyed sewing. She was a member of Riviera United Methodist Church in St. Petersburg and Grace United Methodist Church in Sioux City. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren.

Survivors include four sons, Robert Madsen Jr. of Sioux City, Tom (Chryl) Madsen of Overland Park, Kan., Michael Madsen of Chicago, Ill., and William (Sheila) Madsen of St. Petersburg; three grandchildren, Jennifer, April and Margurite; and a brother, Norman Houk of Baltimore, Md.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a daughter, Patricia.
