CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa -- Jerry Ray Fitch, 69, of Quimby, Iowa, formerly of Correctionville, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at his home.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville, with Pastor Keith Byers officiating. Burial will be in Correctionville Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville.

Jerry was born Nov. 23, 1938, on the family farm south of Correctionville, to Leslie and Lola (Joy) Fitch.

He married Elaine Iwen on Dec. 30, 1955. They couple farmed their entire lives, and Jerry also worked as a milk truck driver, butcher, carpenter, welder and heavy equipment operator for various companies in the area.

Jerry enjoyed music, reading, gardening, horses and a good joke. He was an avid collector of farm toys and console stereos. He loved going to farm auctions and never met a stranger.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine of Quimby; four sons, Kirk (Michele) of Anthon, Iowa, Tim of Washta, Iowa, Jeff (Naoko) of Bremerton, Wash., and Bart of South Sioux City; two daughters, Cindee (Steve) Anderson of Mapleton, Iowa, and Brenda (Jeff) Hayes of Correctionville; four sisters, Norma Mathers, Grace Grozkrueger and Alta Clark all of Correctionville, and Marie Koskovich of Renton, Wash.; a brother, Stanley Fitch of Correctionville; a brother-in-law, Wayne (Moose) Mathers of Kingsley, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Warren and Cyril; and two nephews, Keith Fitch and Steve Mathers.
