Jim was born on Dec. 18, 1937, in Sioux City, to Frank and Edith (LePay) Prochelo. Jim graduated from East High in 1958. His lifelong career in auto body began in high school, where his welding skills were first developed. He started Sioux City Auto Body in the early 1960s. He loved what he did, and the reputation that he carried as one of the best known auto body men in the area was well deserved.

For the last eight years of Jim’s life, he enjoyed a special companionship with Joanne Day Prochello, and they split their time between Florida and Okoboji.

In addition to being a well respected businessman, he was an active member of the Sioux City Sertoma Club. He enjoyed many hobbies related to his industry such as drag racing as a young man with the Strollers out at the Sioux City Airport, attending car shows and auctions, and watching Barret Jackson and Overhaulin'. Throughout his life he also enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing and cheering on the Hawkeyes or any events that included his grandchildren who were the light of his life.

Jim is survived by his children, Rick (Jodi) Beller of Clive, Iowa, Peggy (Tim) Stanek of Sioux City, Marc (Sharon) Prochello of Goodyear, Ariz., Rob (Amanda) Beller of Sioux City, David (Julie) Prochello of Dakota Dunes, S.D., Jodi Beller Brandtjen of St. Paul, Minn., and Lori (David) Twohig of Sioux City; sister, Mary (Herb) Chandler of Sparks, Nev.; grandchildren, Tyler (Leslie) Beller, Kati (Jason) McKinney, Sarah (Scott) Mills, Tim (Kate) Stanek, Anna (Adam) Scheid, Camden Beller, Drake Beller, Max Beller, Sholeh Prochello, Mia Prochello, Nicolle (Kayne) Weaver, Cody Alwin, Shawn Hoffman, Andrew Prochello, John Prochello, Luke Prochello, Isabel Brandtjen, Brianna (Brandon) Carda, Molly Twohig, Stephanie Twohig, Jacob (McKayla) Twohig, and Grace Twohig; 10 great-grandchildren; and Joann Day Prochello.
