14 May 2016SIOUX CITY | J. Howard Phipps, 86, of Los Angeles, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, died Sunday, April 30, 2016.
Services were held on May 7 at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Los Angeles.
Howard was born on July 2, 1929, to Jacob and Exzilda (Bassett) Phipps. He attended school in Sergeant Bluff and graduated from Trinity High School in Sioux City in 1947.
He married Mary Meade in 1951. She passed away in 1994. He married Mary Miller in 1998.
He is survived by his son, Jim; his wife, Mary; stepdaughters, Marla and Michelle Miller; a brother, Don (Mary Jo); a sister, Nancy (Herb) Langley of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roger and Edward; and sisters, Marie Amendola and Beverly Shelton.
