SALIX, Iowa | Harold L. Mook, 90, of Arlington, Tenn., formerly of Salix, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Ann Catholic Church, 6529 Stage Rd., in Bartlett, Tenn. Inurnment will be in Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd., in Bartlett.

He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 during World War II. After his discharge, he started working on the river in 1947 with Missouri Valley for 35 years and then Fullen Dock in 1982 with 33 years of service.

Mr. Mook was a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Cairo, Ill., and was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Bartlett. He also loved fishing, hunting and drag racing.

Mr. Mook leaves behind a legacy of love for the river and his family, "The dredge and boat man."

Mr. Mook is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Charlotte Mook of Arlington, Tenn.; son, Ronald Mook of Memphis, Tenn.; daughter, Pamela Papke of Arlington; sisters, Betty Winterringer of Le Mars, Iowa, Pat Larson of Wauwatosa, Wis., and Sheryl Pyle of Jefferson, S.D.; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his children, Kenneth Mook, Gary Mook and Charlene Dalton.
