Leona R. (Norr) Kay, 71, of Panama City, Fla., formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007.

Private services will be today at Heritage Funeral Home in Panama City.

Leona was born Nov. 8, 1935, in Emerson, Neb., to Conrad and Ruth (Lute) Norr. Her family moved to Sioux City when she was a small child. She attended Sioux City schools, graduating from East High School in 1956.

She married Richard William Kay on Jan. 20, 1956, in Sioux City. The couple moved to Panama City soon after their marriage and made their permanent home there, because her husband was stationed there in the U.S. Air Force, from which he retired after 30 years of service. The couple then bought a shrimp boat and together with their children operated that for many years until her husband's death.

Survivors include a daughter, Lorna and her special friend, Troy Flowers; a son Michael Kay; a daughter-in-law, Mandy Kay; grandchildren, Ryan Kay, Steve Goodwin, Alicia Kay and Adam Kay; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Katy, Morgan, Landon and R.J.; and sisters and their husband, Inis and Gene Crawford of Sioux City, Mae and Glenn Morgan of Fountain, Colo., and Melva and Richard Janssen of Kingsley, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard in 1995; her son, William in 1999; a sister and her husband, Bernice and Vernon Boyer; a brother, Marvin Lute; two nephews; and a grandniece.
