Eleanor Norberg, 98, of Sioux City died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Charles Wolff of Riverside Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Norberg was born Sept. 25, 1908, in Sioux City, the daughter of William A. and Ruth Ann M. (Hoglander) Danielson. She was raised in Sioux City and attended Central High School. She was named Miss Congeniality in the Friendship Club at Central. She was employed with Cusack Laundry-Dry Cleaning until her marriage.

She married Marvin S. Norberg on July 3, 1931, in Sioux City. She had lived in the Riverside area until 1954, when the family moved to North Sioux City. She was a homemaker and housewife. In 1972, the couple bought an acreage in the Jefferson, S.D., area. Mr. Norberg died Dec. 19, 1986, in Jefferson. She continued to live in the Jefferson area until she moved back to Sioux City in 1999.

She was a former member of Riverside Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. She believed in eating right and exercising. She was an avid walker. She also enjoyed fishing with her husband.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Richard M. and Carole Norberg of Boyden, Iowa, and Ronald D. and Jean Norberg of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Victoria Knaack, Douglas Norberg, Duane Norberg, Delann Soenkson, Dena Pullen and Dustin Norberg; three stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; twin sons in infancy; a brother, Carl Danielson; and three sisters, Ruth Danielson, Marie Maurer and Hazel Rorholm.

Pallbearers will be Douglas Norberg, Jeffrey Knaack, Duane Norberg and Dustin Norberg.
