CUSHING, Iowa -- Lloyd Ernest Rohlk, 79, of Cushing passed away Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Cushing, with Pastor Curtis Benson officiating. Burial will be in Holstein Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by F. Roger Baumann Post 624 of Cushing.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Barker Funeral Home in Holstein.

Lloyd E. Rohlk was born on Nov. 13, 1927, in Holstein, Iowa, the son of the late Ernest and Carrie (Will) Rohlk. He was raised in Cushing and graduated from Cushing High School. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard for 12 years.

Lloyd was united in marriage to Violet Lorraine Lieber on July 26, 1959. They were blessed with six children. Lloyd loved farming to the fullest. He knew the important things in life and lived by the Golden Rule. He was our Dad and we, his family, looked to him as our leader, our guide. These few words surely fall short in representing the great man he was.

He is survived by his wife, Violet; his six children, Brad and Pam Rohlk of Holstein, Brian Rohlk and fiancee, Amy Miller of Holstein, Amber (Rohlk) and Ron Caravan of Waukee, Iowa, Angela (Rohlk) and Tony Heck of Hornick, Iowa, Brett and Amy Rohlk of Jacksonville, Ill., and Annette Rohlk of North Liberty, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; his sister, Wilma Hansen of Holstein; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carrie and Ernest Rohlk; three siblings in infancy; and a brother-in-law, Rodney Hansen.
