Art was born in Sioux City, the son of Henry and Reta Kroll.

He was first employed as a cowboy in Wyoming for 10 years, where he guided people through the mountains and worked with livestock. One of his favorite clients was Mr. Wrigley (of the gum company) for a bird hunt. After that, Art moved to Minnesota and began his 25-year career at CEDA, Inc. and Indiana Transport, where he did hauling.

Art enjoyed riding horses, hunting deer, mowing the lawn and working around the house. He loved animals, especially his dogs and horses. Most important to him was family and spending time with Wendi.

Art is survived by his wife of 23 years, Wendi; daughters, Jennifer (Al) Johnson and Teri Kroll; sister and brother, ZoAnn (Mike) Weimer and Bryan (Kelly) Kroll; mother-in-law, Joan Route; sister-in-law, Tami (Shelby) Holen; aunt, Ardyth Heyer; nieces and nephews, Megan, Kevin, Allison, Krissy, Bryan "Henry", Brandon and Tisha; cousin, Nick (Theresa) Hofstader; and longtime friend, Dave Sprung.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Allen Jay; uncle, Robert Heyer; and father-in-law, Fred Route.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at St. Luke's Hospital for the wonderful care of Art.
