SIOUX CITY | Jean L. Butler, 91, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Casa de Paz Health Care Center.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave.

Jean was born on Feb. 18, 1925, in Sioux City, the daughter of Fred and Mabel (Williams) Eastman and attended Sioux City Schools.

She married Harold Butler in October of 1943. He passed away in April of 2014.

Jean enjoyed going to rummage sales, camping, fishing, playing slot machines and spending time with her family. She was known for making the best fried chicken around.

Survivors include her children, Sharon (Eddie) Smith of Brighton, Colo., and Dennis (Doretta) Butler of Jefferson, S.D.; sisters, Cathy Rasmussen of McCook Lake, S.D., Maxine Gant of Sioux City, and Laurie Peterson of Elk Point, S.D.; grandchildren, Mike (Kim) Smith, Lynn (Greg) Wright, Stacie Butler, Carrie Butler and Nate (Abby) Bockholt; 12 great-grandchildren and one on the way; four great-great-grandchildren; and special niece, Mary Ruth Young.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Roy and Fred; and sister, Bernice.
