SIOUX CITY | Arndt "Arny" R. Gunderson, 64, of Sioux City passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Premier Estates Care Center in West Point, Neb.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, followed by a luncheon at the funeral home. Visitation with the family present will begin 5 p.m. Monday, with a time of sharing at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. In honor of Arny, Husker apparel can be worn to the services.

Arny was born on March 11, 1952, in Sioux City, the son of Arndt and Margaret (Spaustat) Gunderson. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Riverside High School in 1971. He worked at Wincharger before attending WIT to obtain his electrician's license. He worked as an electrician for Kiewit Corp. and was proud that he was able to work on the Archway Monument near Kearney, Neb.

Arny married Deb Ahlquist and to this union two sons were born. He later married Velma Watkins.

He enjoyed the Huskers, his pickups, flower gardens, wrestling, fishing and camping. He had a good sense of humor and was loved by many.

Survivors include his sons, Brent (Liz) Gunderson of Omaha, and Bart (Sara) Gunderson of Hubbard, Neb.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way; siblings, Mike Gunderson, Alma Gunderson, Lil Carlson and Doug Gunderson, all of Sioux City; many nieces and nephews; great and great-great nieces and nephews; and many cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arndt and Margaret Gunderson; two sisters, Carla Hodge and Marcia Fischer; and a great-nephew, Johnathan Fischer.
