SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Lillie E. Miller, 92, of South Sioux City died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hope Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Charles Horkey officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. with her grandson, the Rev. David Smith officiating, at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

Lillie was born Aug. 8, 1911, in Homer, Neb., the daughter of Elias Lige and Bertha Ellen (O'Dell) Laird.

She married Burl Miller on Feb. 4, 1928, in Sioux City. The couple farmed in Dakota County. Lillie was employed as a fry cook at Diamond Horseshoe for many years.

She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Marvin and Ella Leah Miller and William and Jane Miller, all of South Sioux City, and Melvin and Joyce Miller of Bloomington, Minn.; three daughters and their husbands, Mrs. Daryl (Darline) Smith of Midland, Texas, Mrs. Ronald (Charlyne) Cameron of Allen, Texas, and Mrs. Donald (Karen) Gatzemeyer of South Sioux City; 25 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Laird and Anita Miller; and a brother-in-law and his wife, Jacque and Marion Miller.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl on Nov. 16, 1984, in Sioux City; her parents; and two brothers, Walter and Henry Laird.

Honorary and active pallbearers will be her grandsons.
